Helloo to everyone from Nashville. It's been a while since I've written a blog, so I thought it'd be a good week to write one.

I've had a really great past couple of weeks! I've been on the first leg of a radio promo tour, and it's been great visiting all the different radio stations and getting to perform again! I started in Greenville, South Carolina for B93.7's Zoo-A-Palooza to help raise money for the local Greenville Zoo there. I then went to Louisville, Kentucky where I got to do a show for WDJX with other performers like We The Kings, Hot Chelle Rae, Iyaz, and Kris Allen as the host. It was really fun hanging with everyone there. We then made stops at 106.3 in Lexington, Q102 in Cincinnati, WNCI in Columbus, and Q102 in Philly. It's fun getting to go to all of the different radio stations! We also went to PRO FM in Rhode Island, which is always great going over to see them! After that we went to Sixflags New England for a show with KC 101 where Auburn, Boys Like Girls, Flo Rida, and Bruno Mars performed at too. I must admit that I'm a pretty big fan of Bruno Mars's stuff. He has an awesome voice. I'm sure you guys know his new song Just the Way You Are, but if you haven't then you should really check it out.

After all the radio promo, it was time to go to New York for Arthur Ashe Kids' Day where Shontelle, Allstar Weekend, Demi Lovato, and Jonas Brothers also performed. It was really fun. It was cool meeting Allstar Weekend and hanging with them, and then seeing Shontelle and Demi again. I didn't really get to say much to the Jonas Brothers, but I did catch a bit of their soundcheck. It was cool getting to sing "Something 'Bout Love" for the first time live.. period.. lol, then also first time live on TV both acoustically on Good Day NY and then with the energy of the band on AAKD. Hope you guys have been enjoying the performances! It's also been fun getting to introduce another new song from the album called "Elevator" that I first sang in Greenville. It's one of my favorite songs on the album and I feel is a good representation of what else you'll be getting from the album :). More of the David vibe haha.

So... we've been getting things wrapped up with the album The Other Side of Down!! It's been pretty crazy trying to get everything finalized but we're pretty much finished and have done all we can under the amount of time that there was to work with haha. I'm really excited! We're a little over a month away from it coming out October 5th, and I'm already starting to feel the anxious and the jitters. I really hope all the work this last year pays off though for all of you! Anyway I am going to end for today, and talk to you guys later!

Holaa a todos, desde Nashville. Ha sido un tiempo desde que he escrito un blog, así que pensé que sería una buena semana para escribir uno.

He tenido un par de semanas realmente grandiosas! He estado en la primera escala de una gira de promoción de radio, y ha sido maravilloso visitar todas las estaciones de radio y llegar a actuar de nuevo! Empecé en Greenville, Carolina del Sur por B93.7 ‘s Zoo-A-Palooza para ayudar a recaudar dinero para el zoologico local de Greenville. Entonces fui a Louisville, Kentucky, donde tengo que hacer un espectáculo para WDJX con otros artistas como We The Kings, Hot Chelle Rae, Iyaz, y Kris Allen como el anfitrión. Fue muy divertido salir con todos los presentes. Luego hacían una parada en 106,3 en Lexington, Q102 en Cincinnati, WNCI en Columbus, y Q102 en Filadelfia. Debo admitir que soy un fan muy grande de la materia Bruno Marte. Él tiene una voz impresionante. Estoy seguro que ustedes conocen su nueva canción Just the Way You Are, pero si no entonces realmente deben checarla.

Después de todo la promoción de radio, ya era hora de ir a Nueva York para el Día de Arthur Ashe Kids ‘, donde Shontelle, Allstar Weekend, Demi Lovato y Jonas Brothers también se presentaron. Fue muy divertido. Ha sido muy interesante reunirme con Allstar Weekend y salir con ellos, y luego ver Shontelle y Demi otra vez. Yo realmente no llegué a decir mucho a los Jonas Brothers, pero he escuchado un poco de su prueba de sonido. Ha sido muy interesante llegar a cantar “Something ‘Bout Love” por primera vez en vivo ..punto.. lol, entonces también la primera vez en directo por televisión tanto una señal acústica en Buen Día Nueva York y luego con la energía de la banda en AAKD. Espero que hayan podido disfrutar de las actuaciones! También ha sido divertido llegar a introducir otra nueva canción del álbum llamado “Elevator”, que canté por primera vez en Greenville. Es una de mis canciones favoritas en el álbum y me parece una buena representación de lo demás que ustedes estarán recibiendo desde el disco:). Más de la onda David jaja.

Así que … hemos estado consiguiendo las cosas envueltas con el álbum The Other Side of Down! Ha sido bastante loco tratar de terminar todo, pero estamos casi terminando y han hecho todo lo posible en virtud de la cantidad de tiempo que hubo para trabajar jaja. Estoy muy emocionado! Estamos un poco más de un mes lejos de que salga el 05 de octubre, y ya estoy empezando a sentir la ansiedad y el nerviosismo.Realmente espero que todo el trabajo del año pasado valga la pena para todos ustedes! De todos modos yo voy a terminar por hoy, y hablar con ustedes más tarde!

Nuevo Blog!

I am checking in from LA today, and I’ve had some good writing sessions this week already. I worked with Guy Chambers, who wrote Angels with Robbie Williams, and Erika Nuri from The Writing Camp. I also had writing sessions last week with Sam Hollander and Sluggo, who my friend Travis from We The Kings actually told me about because he has worked a lot with them. I also worked with a bunch of other really great writers, who you’ve probably seen me talk about on Twitter. But I actually have another writing session today with the Nexus lol. And I’ll let you guys know how that goes too!

So I was able to go home for a couple of days, and I got to spend time with my family!! Sunday was my cousin’s birthday, and I had all of my mom’s sisters and some of my cousins over visiting from out of town. It was so great getting to have them all there and hanging out with them! A lot of them have birthdays near each other so we just celebrated all of them at once. But family is such a great thing to have, and to have them supporting you and just being there to lift each other up makes a big difference. Having family or friends who are basically family there to do that for you is a huge blessing.

Last night I performed at the BritWeek Gala Event honoring Sir Richard Branson, and was supporting the foundations Save the Children and Virgin Unite. It was a really great night! I was asked to sing Imagine, and then I also sang Prayer of the Children. Nigel Lythgoe had asked me to come sing at the event. It’s funny because I actually ran into him at the Atlanta airport not too long ago, and after I saw him there is when he asked me to come sing. Since he was one of the executive producers on American Idol while I was there, I owe a lot to him for giving me the opportunities I’ve been able to have from the show. He’s a good guy haha. But man, Morgan Freeman was there and I wish I had gotten the chance to meet him! I went to use the restroom and kept getting stopped and talking to people, never really getting time to go over and talk to him. But I think he’s just one of the coolest guys.

In LA there are a lot of signs around saying “April is Earthquake Preparedness Month.” I think it’s really important to remind people about how we need to think about what we would do in an emergency like an earthquake, or any other kind of situation like that. I think it’d be great if you have a family to go through what everyone would do in an emergency, and come up with a plan on how to deal with things. Things like food storage and emergency kits can be so useful in an emergency. I probably sound weird right now lol, but I think with everything happening it’s important to get people thinking about it and being prepared for possible events to happen. Keeping a water supply, non-perishable foods, flashlights, things like that. Just to keep in mind I guess. There are websites you can find out more info on. Here are a couple:

I don’t want to sound like I’m paranoid or anything lol, but you never know what could happen. I’m going to try and get back home for the weekend and just go through things with my family and make a plan too. I remember in school they were talking about how Utah is due for a pretty big earthquake too, and with everything going on right now you never know what could happen.

Well sorry for going off on that, but I’m going to get back into this writing session I’ll tweet later and try to get another blog up next week. Adios!

Nuevo Blog! 20/02/10

Hey guys! Hope you guys have been having a good week. This week has been pretty crazy for me! I’ve been working a lot on the memoir that I’ve been working on, and it can be pretty challenging since I’m not used to writing and thinking about myself as much as I have to with this book lol. It’s really cool though because a lot of the things you may have forgotten about in your past start to come back when you start thinking hard and a lot about events and memories you have back there in your brain that might be a little rusty. They’re still there though, you just have to really take some time to ponder haha. It’s been challenging with all the other things we’ve had to do with the project too, but I’m looking forward to seeing how everything comes together at the end and sometimes it’s good to challenge yourself farther than you may normally be used to!

Other than the book, I’ve also been working on some more writing and recording this week. I got to spend more time with Eman this week and I’m really pumped about the song we finished writing! I also recorded another song a few days ago at his studio which I think has a great message to it. I haven’t been able to get into music as much this week with all the work I’ve had to finish with the book, but I’ll be kickin’ back into gear next week back in LA.

So now I’m back in Miami, and I’ve had such an awesome experience here! I was able to be a part of the Spanish We Are the World project “Somos El Mundo” and it was really great! Emilio and Gloria Estefan got the project together, and they along with their staff are some of the nicest people you could ever work with. This is the first time they’ve ever done this song in Spanish, so I’m really glad to have been a part of it with so many talented Latin artists. I love it when people come together to help out, because it really is amazing how much strength comes when people come together. It was neat being able to help in the Hope for Haiti telethon and see how much good came from everyone coming together to unite to help the people in Haiti. There’s power in numbers. The damage happened so quickly in Haiti, and now they need to recover from all that has happened there. I was watching the news last night and saw that Kris Allen went out to Haiti to help out. I thought that was so cool. I really look up to him for all that he does for other people. I know that he’s done a lot of missionary work in a lot of different places and countries, and I think people should do things like that more. Even if you aren’t able to go to a different country, you can still help by sending donations to good causes, or help out the people who may need your help even in your own country, state, or town.

Being at the Somos El Mundo recording yesterday was my first time being around and meeting so many Latin artists. I was pretty nervous with the interviews and being new to that crowd, but it was really fun at the same time and a lot of really nice people. It was good to see PeeWee there, and Ednita Nazario was incredibly nice! Jon Secada, Cristian Castro, Ricardo Montaner, Chayanne, Thalia, and Luis Fonsi were some of the people there. I was like in shock and thought I was going to pass out when I met Luis Fonsi lol. He’s such an amazing singer. The video will premiere on Univision March 1st on Cristina. She’s a very popular Hispanic talk show host if you aren’t familiar with her. She was there yesterday as well, and it was crazy seeing her there because she’s just one of those people I never thought I’d get to meet. I remember watching her when I was little. But anyway I’ve written enough for today, so I will talk to you guys later! Ciao!

Hola muchachos! Espero que ustedes hayan tenido una buena semana. Esta semana fue una semana de locura para mí! He estado trabajando mucho en mis memorias en las que estado trabajando, y puede un poco desafiante ya que no estoy acostumbrado a escribir y pensar sobre mi tanto como lo estoy haciendo ahora con este libro lol. Es muy cool porque muchas de las cosas que tú te hayas olvidado sobre tu pasado empiezan a volver cuando empiezas a pensar fuerte y mucho sobre todos los eventos y memorias que tú tienes que recordar en el cual puedes no tener por falta de práctica. Ellos son todavía allí aunque, así que tu tienes que tomar realmente algún tiempo para reflexionar haha. He sido desafiante con otras cosas que tienen que tienen que ver con este proyecto también, pero espero ver cómo todo sale todo al fin y a veces es bueno tener desafíos por que te llevan más lejano que lo que uno puede ser hacer normalmente!

Otra cosa que hice aparte del libro, también he estado trabajando esta semana en seguir escribiendo mas y continuar grabando. He estado mas tiempo con Eman esta semana y estoy muy contento de a ver terminado de escribir una canción! También grave otra canción a se pocos días en el estudio el cual tiene un mensaje muy bueno. No pude hacer mucha música esta semana con todo el trabajo que estoy haciendo para terminar el libro, pero

Bueno ahora estoy de nuevo en Miami, y he tenido una experiencia excepcional aquí!
Pude ser parte del proyecto de We Are the World” que “Somos el proyecto de Mundo ” y fue realmente una gran experiencia! Emilio y Gloria Estefan consiguieron el proyecto juntos, y ellos junto con su personal son parte de las personas más agradables con las que tu podrías trabajar. Esta es la primera vez que he hecho esta canción en español, así que estoy súper contento de haber formado parte de el con tantos talentosos artistas latinos. Me encanta cuando la gente se reúne para ayudar, porque es muy sorprendente cuánta fuerza viene cuándo las personas se reúnen. Fue muy bueno poder ayudar en el teletón Esperanza televisado para ayudar a Haití y ver cuántas cosas buenas vinieron de todos, reuniéndose para ayudar a las personas en Haití. El poder de los números. El daño sucedió tan rápidamente en Haití, y ahora ellos deben recuperarse de todo que ha sucedido allí. Mire las noticias anoche y mire que Kris Allen fue a Haití para ayudar. Eso fue algo extraordinario. Yo realmente lo admiro por todo lo que él hace por otras personas. Sé que él ha hecho mucho trabajo misionero en muchos lugares y en diferentes países, y yo pienso que las personas deben hacer esta clase de cosas más seguido. Incluso si tu no puedes ir a un país diferente, tu puedes ayudar enviando donativos a causas buenas, o ayudando a personas que pueden necesitar de tu ayuda aún en tu propio país, estado, o pueblo.
Ayer estuve en la grabación de Somos El Mundo fue mi primera vez que estuve al alrededor y conocer a tantos artistas latinos. Estuve bastante nervioso con las entrevistas y ser nuevo en esa multitud, pero fui realmente divertido al mismo tiempo y muchas personas realmente fueron muy agradables. ¡Fue muy bueno ver a PeeWee allí, y Ednita Nazario fue increíblemente agradable! Jon Secada, Cristian Castro, Ricardo Montaner, Chayanne, Thalia, y Luis Fonsi fueron algunas de las personas que estuvieron allí. Ella es una presentadora de un programa de entrevistas hispano muy popular en caso de que usted no estén familiarizado con ella. Ella estuvo allí ayer también, y fue increíble verla allí porque ella es una de esas personas que yo nunca pensé en conocer. Recuerdo verla cuando yo era más pequeño. ¡Pero de todos modos, creo que he escribí bastante por hoy, así que hablaré con ustedes más tarde! Ciao!
